Miracles for Madi Vanstone

Madi is a grade 7 girl at our school with cystic fibrosis. She has fought this disease all of her life, going in and out of hospital with chronic lung and stomach infections. A new drug called Kalydeco is effective in a small group of people with Madi's condition. Fortunately, Madi has begun taking Kalydeco, with very positive results. Unfortunately, this medication is not approved in Ontario, making it extremely expensive. In efforts to help Madi to be able to continue receiving Kalydeco, a fund-raiser is being held on Saturday, September 21st from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the park in Beeton. There will be lots of things to do for the whole family, including a very special concert by recording artist John McDermott. Your support at this event will truly help Madi and her family achieve the miracle they have sought for a long time.

Book Fair

We will be holding our annual fall Book Fair beginning September 24th, and running through to September 30th. The Book Fair will be open daily from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. It will also be accessible in the evening of Tuesday, September 24th in conjunction with Meet the Teacher.

Adults are encouraged to help their children understand the value of money they bring to school. Sadly, there are great disappointments every year when a handful of pennies is not enough to purchase a desired item.

Your support of the Book Fair is greatly appreciated. At the same time, Mr. Summers encourages all students to take full advantage of the many wonderful titles available to be borrowed from the Osler library. We are also very fortunate to have a well stocked public library in our community.
